[Tutorial] Making your own Drum Kit for the Drummer

Making your own Drum Kits

If you don't have drummer check this guide out here

For this you will need to be familiar with accessing your iPhone via FTP. All the drum samples are stored in separate folders here:-

Pre 1.1.3: /var/root/Media/MooCowMusic/Drummer/Kits/

1.1.3: /var/mobile/Media/MooCowMusic/Drummer/Kits/

Each kit comprises of 15 samples named "1.wav" to "15.wav", and a graphics file called "kitname.png". The graphics file is the overlay for the "screen" part of the drum pad which tells you the name of the currently loaded kit. Take a look at the existing ones and it will all become clear. Change this graphic to brand your kit. I used this font for my own kit names. The following graphic shows a blank screen onto which you can place your logo:-

The WAV files can be stereo (the default kits are mono to cut down on download size), and can be any length. The pads play the following samples:-

Drummer will, on startup, list all the folders under Kits and from that load up all the contained kits. This means that as long as you don't call your kit folder the same name as someone else's then both your kits can be installed and removed independantly. For this reason it's worthwhile calling your kit folder something unique to you. The name of the kit on the graphic obviously does not have to match the name of the folder. The kits are loaded in alphabetical order, so you can rename the kit folders to group them appropriately.

Once you have created your kit, you can share it with others by zipping it up and including relevant installation instructions.
