Could Walt Mossberg be right after all? Those who follow the latest in Apple news may remember that the Wall Street Journal columnist said that the iPhone will be having its own 3G counterpart within 60 days (as of the previous article's date of post).
Now, there's a mysterious memo floating around in the AT&T offices, possibly hinting that yes, there's going to be a big launch of a yet unspecified gadget soon.
Check out this excerpt, taken from the said memo:
We ll meet the challenge head-on by providing an exciting Summer Promotional Launch to enable your sales to soar. We again anticipate heavier than normal customer traffic in our stores, providing an excellent earning opportunity for every front line retail sales consultant (RSC) in company owned retail stores.
To ensure proper staffing during this period, Sales personnel planning to take approved time off are encouraged to schedule their vacations before June 15 or after July 12 to participate in the heavy selling period.
Here are the keywords in case you missed them: "Summer Promotional Launch," "heavier...customer traffic," and "June 15 or after July 12". And what do those words usually mean?
We'll leave it up to you to figure it out, but it does remind us of a big launch event. But of what? At this point, we can assume that it's something really big. Like an Apple 3G iPhone.
We're all free to speculate, of course. If you have a better idea of what it is, hit the comments and tell us what you think!
