[Tutorial] Edit the 'Legal' Section in the Settings Menu

This guide will tell you how to create custom Legal notices etc. for your iPhone and/or iPod Touch. First I will talk you through the steps, and at the bottom, I have posted my current 'Legal' screens. Guide for Firmware 1.1.1

1. SSH into (Connect to) your iPhone/iTouch. Follow this guide if you don't know how to. (Windows users only).

2. Navigate into /Applications/Preferences.app/English.lproj/ in your SSH App.

3. In there, you should see two .html file: legal-disclaimer-ipod.html (iPod's File) and legal-disclaimer-iphone.html (iPhone's File)

4. Backup these files incase you want to go back to the default ones. Then edit the files in the HTML editor of your choice. (e.g. Notepad or Dreamweaver).

5. Once you have edited them, save them and transfer them to your iPhone/iTouch overwriting the originals.

6. Go to Settings > General > About > Legal and view your work of art.

Here's my current one:

I know... It's cheesy... lol

Enjoy!

P.S. I have just edited my files so that when someone reads them, it gives them a name and address to send my iPod to if it's lost or stolen.
